Empowering Parents, Transforming Lives
About Debra Gawrys
My name is Debra Gawrys, and I am an educator driven by a lifelong passion for solving the intricacies of learning. Born and raised in Chicago’s Beverly, I knew from age five that teaching was my calling. I earned a K-8 education degree grade teaching and a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Saint Xavier’s University. I have worked with struggling students at my clinic for the past 30 years. I started a journey that revealed the challenges faced by bright children struggling with learning.
After noticing these challenges firsthand, I pursued a master’s in special education, becoming a resource teacher. My journey took a personal turn when my son faced sensory integration issues, and my daughter battled severe dyslexia. I was determined to find solutions, so I discovered The Wilson Reading System, transforming my daughter’s reading abilities within two weeks.
I have written a book specializing in dyslexia and learning disabilities, motivated by my dedication to the field. Over 29 years, I have provided tailored solutions for numerous students through cognitive brain training. I am excited to continue making a difference in the lives of children with special needs and helping parents worldwide through my book.
